Psycho Killer Business Woman

Recreational Whinge:  I’m a big fan of the website, The Onion, and recently they came out with this very funny article:  “Group of popular girls reduces nation to tears”.

As funny as I found the article, it also immediately reminded me of a whole bunch of both personal and professional examples of people behaving badly without consideration for the feelings of others.

Victims and their Drama Triangles

Boo HooRecreational Whinge: One thing you’ll probably need to know about me straight up is that when life throws me a sticky situation, I almost always find some way to blog about it, deal with it straight away, etc.  Something happened to me a few nights ago that I’ve been dreading for years.

I bumped into someone that I was hoping I would never see again.  I won’t go into the story here because it’s not fair to the other person, but I will offer that in my opinion, this person is firmly entrenched in “The Drama Triangle” which essentially means in this case that they often view themselves as the “victim” and that others are the “persecutors” and sometimes they try to find a “saviour” who can’t possibly be one and therefore also becomes a “persecutor” allowing the first person to be even more of a “victim.”

If you want to read more about this phenomenon and the various ways it plays out, here’s a useful link from Mental Health Today.

Getting the “Golden Rule” Wrong!

PeaceRecreational Whinge:  Religion is one of those topics that’s typically taboo to speak about as it has the potential to incite conflict.  Stuff it, this is my recreational whinge and I’d like to continue my rant on religion just a bit.

But this time, I’ll keep the whinge small and the positive spin big.

The “Golden Rule” says “Treat others the way you wish to be treated” or a close enough interpretation of that.  I believe most people get this wrong.

I believe it should be practised as “Treat others they way they wish to be treated.”

If we could get that bit right, there would be less issues in our world, wouldn’t you agree?
